Costa Rica Rent a Car – Check it out Good
Anyone who books a car rental in Costa Rica should be aware that any car rental agency here will charge you for the smallest scratch. What that basically means is that when the car arrives for you to check it out beforehand take the time to seize the opportunity before you rent it and don’t just sign because you’re ready to go. I mean look up, down, side to side and even underneath the vehicle. Every Costa Rica car rental agency sometimes misses damage from previous customers but, they will pass that damage on to your bill if you miss it and they catch it when you return it to the car rental company. Tourists many times think that they are in the Wild West here and they do things with a car rental that they wouldn’t normally do with their own. People go 4×4 driving; crossing rivers and checking out real estate, then go back to the car rental dealer claiming that the damage was not their fault. My point is that if you’re going to rent a car in Costa Rica then renters should be ready to pay for all damages whether they caused them or not, if you didn’t document them previously.
About Insurance you rent a Car in Costa Rica
This is a big game that every Costa Rica car rental agency likes to play here. There is something called the “Basic Mandatory Insurance” that each car rental company will make customers pay before drivers can rent the vehicle. Now, they say that the Costa Rica law requires it but that’s not really true because they’re pocketing the money and insuring the rental themselves. While thousands of dollars are being generated daily by the daily insurance, it is seldom that damage in a day exceeds five hundred per day. Each car is different in price and the basic insurance will differ as well depending on what clients choose to drive. Renters should expect that a car rental dealer will also offer additional insurance with various plans when they arrive. My suggestion is to call you’re credit card company before booking and ask them if a car rental in Costa Rica will be covered by them. In many cases credit card holders are already automatically covered to a certain limit but they just don’t know it. I wouldn’t purchase additional insurance for a Costa Rica rent a car that was already covered to begin with, would you?
Selecting a Costa Rica Car Rental Company
When you’re ready to select your car rental agency I suggest that you stay away from big internet vacation agencies that are not based in Costa Rica. My reasoning is simple; when you live here you know each car rental dealer, their family and also employees. Not only that but, by working with them on a daily basis you also see their strengths & weaknesses, get local prices and see how each car rental company treats you’re customers. Many tourists rent a car in Costa Rica from companies outside the country who are not around to help them when things go wrong or when prices that were promised don’t come true. As a matter of fact most cheap car prices end up costing buyers more once their here speaking to the smiling fellow with a map in his hand at the rental counter. People think that they can rent a vehicle from an outside travel source and then come down here and pick it up without any problems but that just isn’t always true. My basic rule says that Costa Rica rent a car bookings are better when booked by a reputable in country agency that is on standby to help clients if there’s a problem. Here’s another thought; if you choose to book a car rental in Costa Rica directly with a dealer then how will you be treated? Being just a contract number is much different than an agency that gives them bookings every day.
Drop off fees on a Car Rental in Costa Rica
This is an area that can be difficult when dealing with a Costa Rica car rental company unless your picking up that unit at the airport office and returning it there. The definition of the words “Drop off Fee” is the amount of money that will be charged by a car rental dealer who is dropping off or picking up a rental vehicle that was rented for too short of a time period. If a customer wants to rent a car in Costa Rica for only a day or two and the car rental agency has to spend extra money or time to either take the car to them or pick it up, then they probably will charge a drop off or pick up fee. Here my advise of how to avoid paying drop off fees. First, find out what offices are available for you to rent from close by where you’re staying at in Costa Rica. Next, although we know that you may not need a vehicle if you’re having a wedding or wedding, make sure to rent a car in as many consecutive days as possible to avoid breaks in the booking period. Last be sure to avoid using any Costa Rica rent a car dealership that does not have a office or shop close to you’re location or where your traveling to incase of service problems.
